Lent

Lent is one of those remarkable seasons...
one of seeming senselessness, hiding such great pearls of Joy

"All God's plans have the mark of the cross on them

and all His plans have death to self in them"
~E.M.Bounds~

Denial, commitment, self-control, loyalty, sensitivity,
making room for God, relinquishment, surrender,
concepts and ideas that bring a "modern" time, back to an eternal time...
it re-centers...clarifies, sensitizes, makes tender, if we allow it to...

Lent...reminds us of the most important things,
and gradually, it brings it all back into perspective,
without the person of Jesus, everything is meaningless,
and because it is, He wants all of us, every bit...

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise."
Psalm 51:17

remember first hearing this when desperation band came...

Lent shows us that human nature always attempts to control...
we want things done, and we want it our way...
We take up arms and battle...against God
when we ought to be laying down our rebel arms...

how long has it been since God last overwhelmed us...
Are we allowing Him free reign?
When was the last time we relinquished ourselves back into His hands?
How evident is Yahweh in our lives, is He in residence? or just a visitor?
